About HUGS

Hope for Ugandan Students (HUGS) was founded by a group of people who have been volunteers in Eastern Uganda. Each of us was inspired - by the warmth and kindness of the people who welcomed us into their modest homes, by the abject poverty in which most live, by the willingness of very poor people to take in orphaned and elderly extended family members, and by the lively and hopeful spirit of people who have so little in terms of material means.

We use what we've learned about the needs of people in Uganda to continue our work there through HUGS, a U.S. based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and a grassroots organization in Uganda called Foundation for Development of Needy Communities (FDNC).
